High School Youth Ministry Planning/Core Team-
The core team consists of youth and adults who
are interested in planning programming for the youth of the parish.
This group consists of leaders who are willing to be part of a team
and who enjoy planning. Meetings begin in the summer to
prepare for programming for the next school year. Meetings are
held as needed throughout the school year.

High School Youth Ministry
Wednesday Evening Gatherings-
A variety of programs, service projects
and activities are offered to engage youth on their faith journey.
Held Wednesday evenings from 7-8:30 p.m. in the yellow house or at
the Ministry Center. Check the bulletin weekly for location
and topics. We always need members of our faith community
willing to chaperone, bake cookies, provide snack, teach lessons or
volunteer to be present and share faith.

High School Youth Ministry:
CAP's (Consistent Adult Presence)
CAP's are adults who commit to building
relationships with young people by being present on a consistent
basis at the scheduled youth ministry gatherings. CAP's are
not necessarily involved in the planning or implementing activities
but are encouraged to participate in the events. CAP's commit
to the youth ministry regular gatherings and they are invited to
participate in service projects and youth Mass.

Junior High Youth Ministry
Wednesday Evening Gatherings-
A program of faith formation, prayer,
service and social activities offered to engage our 7th and 8th
grade learners. Weekly sessions are held on Wednesday evenings
from 7:00-8:15 p.m. in the School Hall. We are in need of
people willing to teach, assist, and provide snacks or share faith.

Youth Mass Planning Team-
Youth Mass is celebrated monthly on the first
Sunday of the month at the 11:30 a.m. Mass. Youth meet in the
weeks prior to the Mass for Bible study and then to plan and
practice music, write petitions, and reflect on other ways to
enhance the prayer of the community gathered. Join us as the
young church share their gifts with our parish community.

Teens Encounter Christ-
Teens Encounter Christ is a three-day retreat for
high school juniors and seniors and college freshman that has been
held in Cary, Ohio for over 34 years. TEC is about getting in
touch with God in a peaceful environment with no expectations or
distractions. TEC is teens encountering Christ in a way that
many have never experienced God before. And not only is TEC
about faith, it's also about having fun and getting to know other
youth and adults from all around the Toledo Diocese. TEC also
helps young people see how the rich tradition of their Catholic
faith can help them in their journey. Volunteer opportunities
exist in recruiting and transportation, and also in working on
Retreat weekends. All parents of high school juniors and
seniors are encouraged to recommend this ministry to them.

Youth Elect Service-
YES is an overnight retreat-oriented service
project for incoming high school freshmen to outgoing seniors that
focuses on social justice issues, giving youth opportunities to
reach out to and serve those in need. Adult volunteer
opportunities are many and varied, including publicity and fund
raising, site selection and development, work leaders and
coordinators, prayer support and food preparation and service.
Time commitments vary with the areas of responsibility and levels of
involvement.

Catholics on Campus-
This organization exists to serve the spiritual
needs of all interested students, faculty, and staff of Defiance
College from a Catholic perspective. Meeting typically in the
Lounge of the McCann Center for 1 hour twice each month of the
academic year, usually in the late afternoon or early evening,
students and advisors share a simple meal and insights from the last
couple of weeks. Students get involved as they are available
and advisors invest 2 or 3 hours per week, depending on the number
of meetings and/or special events.
