Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the
merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
Matthew 4:4,7
Pastoral Commission-
Volunteers provide for the spiritual care and
guidance of homebound parishioners and Catholics in local nursing
homes and hospitals. They assist the sick and elderly with
their life crises, holding them up to the Lord in prayers of concern
and petitions for relief. Ministry members coordinate
communion distributors to the sick, the elderly, and assist at
Masses/Communion Services and room Communion at the nursing homes.

connected with the parish by updating them on events and services at
St. Mary. They also lift them up spiritually and physically by
praying with them for their family and personal needs and by helping
them with contacts that could help with their physical needs.
Time commitments vary according to the number of homebound
parishioners.

Prayer Network-
People can request prayers for physical,
emotional, and/or spiritual needs. Their requests are then
communicated to the prayer network who lifts them up to God's love
and mercy. The prayer network could be a great ministry for
those who are unable to volunteer to the parish in other ways.

Funeral Dinners-
After receiving a call from the parish office
regarding a funeral, the Coordinator will call a cook, set-up
person, dishwasher, and the maintenance person. The
Coordinator will notify the caller for food donations, specifying
the quantity and type, and they will also contact servers with the
time they should arrive. On the day of the funeral, the food
donations are delivered to the Parish Ministry Center. Cooks
and servers prepare and serve the dinner and clean up. When
many volunteers contribute, no one is overburdened and the bereaved
are comforted.
