School Council-
The Council considers and develops school policy,
makes recommendations to the school administration, evaluates
educational effectiveness, and gives advice on financial matters.
Subject to Diocesan regulations, it is an advisory body of the
pastor. Council members meet at 7:30 p.m. on the first
Thursday of the month at St. Mary Campus.

School Athletics-
Volunteers coach fifth and sixth grade girls' and boys' basketball,
as well as schedule practices, facilities, and games.
Commitment depends on the season.

Defiance Catholic Boosters- Parent
and Teacher Support Group
This group supports the teachers, staff,
and children of Defiance Catholic School. They raise funds for
the Technology and Enrichment program and other programs and needs,
give Christmas gifts to school personnel, and organize activities
like the Halloween parade. Board members spend a maximum of 5
hours per month and parent volunteers donate time as needed for
specific programs.

Library Volunteer-
Volunteers help students select appropriate
reading materials and help maintain order and organization in the
library. Volunteers work in the library one hour per week or
more often if able.

Cafeteria Volunteer-
Help serve hot, nutritious meals to hungry,
growing children and then clean tables. Volunteers serve 11:30
a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on school days.

Volunteer Tutors-
Volunteers work with students in grades K-6
one-on-one or in small groups to help with reading and math
assignments. Volunteers serve in the school one or more times
a week for at least 2 hours.

Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts-
The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to
prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their
lifetimes by instilling in them the values of Scout Oath and Law.
Offering young people responsible fun and adventure, they instill in
your people lifetime values, develop in them ethical character, and
train them in citizenship, service, and leadership. Meeting in
the school's art room at varying times and days according to the
group, volunteers usually invest 3 to 5 hours per week, plus 24
hours per year for Cub Scout outings or 456 hours per year for Boy
Scout Camping.

Girl Scouts-
The program encourages increased skill building
and responsibility, and also promotes the development of strong
leadership and decision-making skills. All program activities
are age-appropriate and based on The Four Program goals, as well as
on the Girl Scout Promise and Law. There are five age levels
in Girls Scouting: Daisy Girl Scouts, ages 5-6; Brownie Girl
Scouts, ages 6-8; Junior Girl Scouts, ages 8-11; Cadette Girl
Scouts, ages 11-14; and Senior Girl Scouts, ages 14-17.
Meeting in the school at varying times and days according to the
group, volunteers usually invest 3 to 5 hours per month plus time
for special projects and outings.
